I aim to create spaces where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally.
MY APPROACH
As a therapist, I place high value on authenticity, compassion, and connection, while really championing understanding and implementation as a core part of the process. This means that at Fresh Air, psychology is more than just talk. You'll learn practical strategies to implement in real life, and gain genuine understanding of the why behind your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFT/SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems Theory (FST) and Art Therapy) to tailor support to the individual, rather than focusing on only one specific approach. I combine practical strategies, emotional insight, relationship understanding, and systems thinking to help people better understand themselves, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change.

I also believe humour, authenticity, and human connection are important parts of the therapeutic process. Humour can help create a more relaxed and genuine therapeutic space, helping people feel safe, reduce shame, build perspective - because who doesn't love a good laugh?

My approach is practical, relational, and insight-driven, with the goal of helping people not only understand what is happening, but why it is happening and how to respond differently moving forward.

ABOUT ME
Over the past 23 years, I have immersed myself in many diverse experiences working with children, adolescents and adults across the fields of primary, secondary and tertiary education, leadership, counselling and psychology, including government and private industries. I have worked in several places throughout Queensland, from Normanton to Nerang, and as far out as Quilpie and Mount Isa. My passion is connecting with people and organisations to collaboratively develop and implement tailored plans for growth, personally and professionally.

After over 20 years as a teacher, school leader, and university tutor, I decided to take a break from the education industry and pursue psychology. Now, I love working one on one, or in group settings, and have a passion for working with organisations. I take pride in helping businesses ensure their workplaces are places where their employees like going everyday - imagine the growth, dedication and productivity you can achieve when your employees love where they work! More recently, I have worked with several organisations facilitating their promotion of mental health and safety throughout their relational systems. The specifically tailored processes I use aim to avoid workplace delinquency, counterproductive work, passive aggression, emotional contagion, boundary violations and ethical misconduct.
WHEN I'M NOT WORKING...
I enjoy spending time with family, including Willow, my beloved golden retriever. I really love rugby league and touch footy, along with random little things that bring joy and balance to life: puzzles, dogs, cockatoos, and a good dessert are all high on the list. I have a soft spot for eclectic style, and have built up quite the collection of glasses to suit just about every outfit… because why not?! I believe bringing warmth, personality, and authenticity into life naturally flows into the way I connect with the people I work with.
